Capri's Faraglioni
Capri's Faraglioni

In Italian, “faraglioni” are stacks of oceanic rock. These rock formations are formed and eroded by waves (thanks Wikipedia). Capri has 3, and yes we sailed right through the arch of the middle one (and it was a TIGHT fit/terrifying). From left to right in these photos, they are called Stella (which is connected to the island), Mezzo (with the archway), and Fuori (the tallest, outermost faraglione).

Grotta Azzurra

The “Grotta Azzurra” - you may know it as the famous Blue Grotto. Unfortunately, you can see the waves were a bit too high and mighty for us to go inside.

We got up close and PERSONAL with the rocks and caves on the edge of the island. I knew these guys did this every day, but the irrational part of me was looking for rocks to cling to when we inevitably crashed.

I dare you to try taking a boat ride around this island and NOT singing the theme song to “Jurassic Park” the entire time.
